Barcelona’s Guàrdia Urbana has issued 12 fines to three male saunas, two in Eixample and one in Ciutat Vella, after a joint operation with the Policia Nacional and the Guardia Civil on 28 April.
The action followed a complaint submitted through the General Directorate of Police website, which alleged prostitution at the venues and possible coercion. A total of 83 men were identified during the operation, 70 clients and 13 employees.
Police said seven people were identified as being in an irregular immigration situation. They were taken to Policia Nacional facilities to begin sanctioning procedures and were later detained.
No minors were found during the operation, and no worker said they were a victim of sexual exploitation.
The Guàrdia Urbana also carried out administrative inspections of the premises. It issued five fines for serious infractions and seven for minor ones, linked to the venues’ activities and conditions, including licence issues, emergency exits and signage.
