Barcelona is offering a wide array of activities for families and children across the city this spring, including free museum access, outdoor performances, and immersive exhibitions, according to betevé.
Many Barcelona museums provide free entry on the first Sunday of each month. Additionally, Turó Park will host family shows and musical events on Saturday afternoons from April to July, featuring theatre, puppets, storytelling, live music, and sardana dancing on Saturday mornings.
The Barceloneta neighbourhood is celebrating its Spring Festival from 9 April to 31 May, with activities for all ages. These include music, dance, theatre, workshops, storytelling, 'castells' (human towers), and 'gegants' (giants).
Cultural Highlights and Free Access
Sant Andreu Teatre is staging the musical La Ventafocs (Cinderella) by La Roda theatre company, set to 1950s music. Performances run until 29 April at various times. The city also hosts numerous markets on weekends, selling second-hand goods, local crafts, and vintage items.
The Centre Martorell d'Exposicions in Ciutadella Park is presenting an exhibition that explores the concept of time, its origins, human perception, and its place in the brain. This exhibition is free every Thursday afternoon from 3pm to 8pm until 30 July.
Park Güell now offers a Green Pass for registered city residents, allowing free same-day access via its official website. IDEAL, a digital arts centre, has moved to Montjuïc's Palau Victòria Eugènia due to works in its Poblenou space. It is currently hosting a large-format exhibition on Pompeii, featuring an immersive room, virtual reality, original historical objects, and replicas, open daily from 10am to 10pm.
Neighbourhood Festivities and Architectural Celebrations
Barcelona's neighbourhoods host nearly 90 local festivals throughout the year, with many taking place in spring. The city's Cathedral is presenting Gaudí, l'atelier du divin (Gaudí, the workshop of the divine) from 26 February, a virtual reality experience exploring the artist's world.
Barcelona is the World Capital of Architecture from 12 February to 13 December, marked by a long list of activities, including the construction of a city model. The Barcelona Districte Cultural cycle offers free circus, theatre, dance, and music performances throughout April.
