Barcelona’s annual Cycle Festival and Bicicletada ride drew hundreds of participants, according to the City Council. The event in the Catalan capital was organised to promote cycling as a sustainable way to get around the city.

The Bicicletada is a non-competitive ride that lets people of all ages cycle through Barcelona’s streets without traffic. It is designed to encourage active mobility and give residents a different way to experience the city.

Known as La Festa de la Bici, the festival also includes activities and workshops focused on cycling culture and safety. These sessions aim to help people understand the benefits of cycling and how to ride responsibly in an urban setting.

The City Council says events like this support its wider work to increase bicycle use and reduce reliance on private vehicles. That includes expanding cycle lanes and improving infrastructure for cyclists across Barcelona.
