Barcelona residents are renting out private balconies in the Eixample district for Pope Francis’s visit on 10 June. Listings on second-hand sales portals show prices from €100 per person to €1,200 for a full balcony.
The Pope’s motorcade is due to travel 1.1 kilometres along Rosselló street, from Diagonal avenue to Sardenya street, near the Sagrada Família basilica. Many of the adverts focus on this stretch of road, where demand is highest for a clear view of the visit.
Some listings describe the balconies as suitable for families, groups, photographers and pilgrims. One advert for a private balcony priced at €1,200 says it offers an elevated viewpoint of the visit, while other options include shared balconies from €100 per person and full balconies for up to €750.
Not all sellers have set prices. One attic with a private terrace at the corner of Rosselló and Sicília streets is listed with a negotiable cost, and is described as a place to watch the passage of the Popemobile, the illumination of the inauguration of the Jesus tower, and a drone show over the temple.
Other adverts highlight practical details such as open views, no trees blocking the sightline, drinks, private bathrooms and lift access. For readers following local coverage across Catalonia, see our news page for more updates.
