Barcelona drew thousands on 13 June 2026 for the second anti-racism race, organised by the Top Manta union and around 50 other groups. Although 1,500 runners had registered and bibs ran out weeks earlier, many more people joined without official registration.
The event began with a countdown from 10, then runners set off to the chant of “Aigua, aigua!” or “Water, water!”, a reference to the warning cry used by street vendors when police are nearby. The crowd later chanted “Barcelona, antiracista!”
In the men’s race, Will Lisowski-semb won in 17:28, followed by Charles Stevenson in 17:48 and Aleix Font Coderch in 18:04. In the women’s race, Ramatouile Krubally finished first again, after also winning last year, in 18:57. Aida Vallès Casas was second in 21:31, and Clàudia Custodio Martínez third in 21:57.
The five-kilometre circular route started and finished on Avinguda de Francesc Ferrer i Guàrdia, near the Magic Fountain of Montjuïc. It passed through Sants-Montjuïc, including Avinguda de l’Estadi, Passeig Olímpic, Carrer del Foc and Carrer dels Jocs del 92.
Top Manta said the aim was to turn the race into “a large popular mobilisation against racism”, with the motto: “Until all lives can be lived with dignity, the race continues.” All proceeds from the event will go towards improving conditions for the street vendor community.
Lamine Bathily, a Top Manta spokesperson, told betevé’s bàsics programme that unregistered runners were welcome “to denounce the hate speech we suffer”. He said people respond well to the event because they come “to denounce social and institutional racism”. For more local coverage, see our news page.
