Manresa, Catalonia, will see the opening of a new Ampans residential centre next month, as the foundation prepares to start welcoming residents at La Parada in June. The site is located between Carrer de la Pau and Camí Vell de Santpedor, in the La Parada sector.

Ampans supports people with intellectual disabilities and those at risk of social exclusion. The foundation says the new centre is an example of social and community architecture, and it will create 50 new jobs.

The official inauguration is planned for July, and the President of the Generalitat, Salvador Illa, has been invited to attend. For more on Ampans, see its official site at ampans.cat.

Once La Parada opens, Ampans will manage 530 residential places across its facilities for different disability profiles. The foundation says its total workforce will rise to 1,500 employees after these latest hires.

The Manresa opening is part of a wider expansion plan. Ampans is also due to launch a new facility in Terrassa in July, with 60 places for people with high dependency needs. Readers can follow more Catalonia-wide coverage on our news tag page.
