Aliança Catalana will unveil its mayoral candidate for Lleida this Wednesday, 2 September, at 6.30pm in the Leandre Cristòfol room at Llotja de Lleida, on Avinguda de Tortosa 6. The event marks a strategic move by the party to strengthen its territorial footprint in western Catalonia’s comarques.
The launch will be headlined by Sílvia Orriols, the party’s president and mayor of Ripoll, whose leadership has drawn national attention for its hardline stance on immigration and security. Orriols gained prominence during the 12 May 2024 Catalan elections, when she presented her candidacy for the Catalan Parliament, declaring it was time for “order to return to Catalonia”.
The gathering, promoted under the slogan “Save Lleida”, aims to position the party as an alternative to address what it describes as pressing local issues, including insecurity and immigration. According to party sources, the initiative is part of a broader strategy to expand into new municipalities ahead of the 2027 municipal elections, with organisational efforts already underway in Pallars Sobirà, Pallars Jussà, Alta Ribagorça and Alt Urgell.
Expanding political reach
Since its breakthrough in Ripoll during the 2023 municipal elections, Aliança Catalana has consolidated its presence, winning two seats in the Catalan Parliament. Internal party conventions held in February 2026 in Ripoll coordinated local leadership across multiple regions, involving around 180 party officials.
The party’s growing influence has raised concerns among mainstream separatist parties like Junts and ERC, particularly in Lleida and Girona, where Orriols is seen as a potential threat to their electoral prospects. Polls cited by Crónica Global suggest Aliança Catalana could attract disaffected voters from Junts, PP and Ciudadanos, particularly on issues of immigration and public order.

Orriols stated in a campaign message ahead of the May 2024 elections, framing her platform around preserving Catalan identity and resisting what she described as “invasive” immigration that does not share “our civil laws or Western values”.
Residents and interested parties may register to attend Wednesday’s event via a form provided by the party. The Lleida launch follows a series of local outreach activities, including an information stand in Tremp on 26 January 2026, where party representatives said they confirmed strong alignment with local sentiment.
