Manresa was the focus of a teachers’ protest on Monday afternoon, as around 200 teachers and professors marched through the city centre to demand better working conditions.

The demonstration began with a traffic blockade on the Vic road, outside the Education Department offices, before the group moved into the centre of Manresa. Local Police regulated traffic during the march.

The 0-3 collective, which represents educators working with children aged zero to three, played a prominent role in the protest. Their chant, “We are education, we are not nurseries,” was heard repeatedly, according to local reports.

The protest took place while teachers were voting on ongoing issues, and it forms part of wider teacher mobilisation across Catalonia. Educators have been pressing for improvements to working conditions and educational resources.

The focus on early childhood education also reflects a broader debate within the sector about recognition, staffing ratios and professional support. For more local education coverage, see our news tag.
