Southern Tarragona faces a yellow alert for heavy rain this Monday and Tuesday, 4 and 5 May, according to the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Meteocat). The forecast indicates precipitation could exceed 20 litres per square metre in just 30 minutes in several coastal and pre-coastal areas.

The intense rainfall is expected between 2pm and 8pm on both days. This weather event follows a period of rain predicted for Sunday in the Tarragona region, now extending into the new week.

Areas Affected and Safety Advice

On Monday, the alert covers all Tarragona counties, with the exception of Baix Penedès and Tarragonès. By Tuesday, the risk will concentrate specifically on the Ebre counties and Baix Camp.

Authorities advise residents to take extra precautions, particularly in flood-prone areas and on the road network. The Confederación Hidrográfica del Ebro, the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation, has also warned of potential sudden rises in water levels in smaller riverbeds and ravines across much of the river basin.
