Fire Contained After Rapid Response
A forest fire in the municipality of Sant Salvador de Guardiola, in the Bages region of Barcelona province, was stabilised by 18:01 on Saturday, 12 September 2026. The Generalitat fire service, Bombers de la Generalitat, received the alert at 16:52 and responded with 22 ground units and three aerial resources. The fire was located along the BP1101 road at kilometre 11, where it affected 1.2 hectares of vegetation including white pine, scrubland, and crop stubble. According to the Rural Agents Corps, the area was fully surrounded using water lines and manual tools.
Ongoing Mop-Up and Safety Measures
Despite being stabilised, 12 ground units and one aerial asset remained on site to dampen the affected area and prevent re-ignition. Additional personnel from Mossos d'Esquadra, the Rural Agents Corps, and Forest Defence Groups were deployed to support operations. Protecció Civil has maintained the high-risk alert under the Infocat emergency plan for forest fires due to ongoing dry conditions and low humidity. Residents are urged to avoid non-essential activities in forested or urban-adjacent wooded areas.
The public must remain vigilant, especially during weekend movements into rural zones, and strictly follow all fire prevention measures issued by authorities.
The regional government has extended restrictions on open fires and high-risk activities across affected territories, including Sant Salvador de Guardiola, to minimise further risk.
