700+ Gymnasts Compete in Regional Championship

Vilafranca del Penedès hosted a major rhythmic gymnastics event on Saturday, drawing more than 700 athletes and 122 teams from across Catalonia. The competition served as the second phase of Base-level group events and the first phase of Level 8 group events, jointly organised by the Catalan Gymnastics Federation and Club Rítmica Vilafranca at the town’s Nou Pavilion. Throughout the day, both morning and afternoon sessions saw packed stands and high energy, with local and visiting supporters cheering on the young gymnasts. The venue became a focal point for Catalan rhythmic gymnastics, showcasing emerging talent and competitive excellence.

Club Rítmica Vilafranca Wins Two Silver Medals

The home team fielded four federated groups. In the morning session, the cadet group, Berta Olivas, Aina Martin, Montserrat Gutierrez, Valeria Barrabés and Ariadna Isaza, earned silver with their performance using clubs, finishing in second place. Later in the day, the younger aleví group, Naiara Isaza, Maria Gutierrez, Alba Roca, Arlet Raventós and Laia Torras, also secured second position with their hoop routine, matching their earlier bronze win in the first phase of the Catalan Cup held in El Vendrell. The juvenile group, featuring Jana Torrens, Nora Gimenez, Gala Surià, Sheila Fernandez and Núria Gutierrez, delivered a strong performance with hoops and ribbons. The benjamí squad, Gala Morales, Erin Castillo, Bruna Mañé, Tanit Kupins and Ivet Ortega, completed their free-hand routine, building on positive momentum from their debut.

That the Catalan Federation continues to trust our club and Vilafranca for high-level competitions is excellent news. It brings top-tier rhythmic gymnastics to the Penedès and lets our athletes shine in front of home crowds.

Coaches Highlight Growth and Consistency

Glòria Mitjans, technical director of Club Rítmica Vilafranca, praised the athletes’ development:

Training is paying off. Our gymnasts are competing with strength and confidence. There are still small errors, so room for improvement, but they’re performing at a very good level. Beyond results, what matters most is that progress is visible at every competition.

Mitjans added that consistency remains key as the team prepares for the Catalan Championships, expressing confidence in their trajectory and the strong foundations being built across all age groups.
