Vila-sana's women's roller hockey team made history in Fraga, Aragon, on 14 June 2026, by winning their first-ever OK Liga Iberdrola title. The team from Pla d’Urgell defeated Fraga 1-3, completing a season that also saw them lift the Copa de la Reina.

The victory marked the club's second major trophy of the year, following their Copa de la Reina triumph. Coach Lluís Rodero had expressed his desire for this to be the team's final match of the season, a goal achieved by winning both games in the final series against Fraga.

The match in Fraga was intense and evenly matched, with the decisive moments occurring in the first half. The initial minutes were chaotic, marked by turnovers and an overwhelming atmosphere that made it difficult for players to concentrate. Fraga created early chances through Arxé and Sanjurjo, but Vila-sana's goalkeeper Anna Salvat kept the score at 0-0.

Vila-sana Takes Control

Despite Fraga's pressure, Vila-sana broke the deadlock when Elsa Salvanyà scored, putting them 0-1 ahead and igniting their travelling supporters. After the goal, the pace slowed, but Vila-sana began to dominate. Their improved defence and effective attacks from Florenza and Agudo forced Fraga's coach, Jordi Capdevila, to call a time-out.

The break did not change the momentum. With ten minutes left in the first half, Gime extended Vila-sana's lead to 0-2. Fraga responded quickly, with Soto scoring from a rebound to make it 1-2. However, Vila-sana's Victòria Porta immediately capitalised on a counter-attack, beating Fraga's goalkeeper Ferrer to restore the two-goal advantage, ending the first half 1-3.

Second Half Resilience

Fraga started the second half with renewed energy, pushing to overturn the deficit. Vila-sana, however, displayed strong defensive resilience. After the first five minutes, Vila-sana regained control, and although Salvat had to save a couple of long-range shots, their lead remained secure. Gime nearly extended the lead further after a quick transition.

With 13 minutes remaining, Florenza missed a direct free hit, failing to seal the victory. Vila-sana remained solid defensively, and their fans, despite the heat, continued to cheer them on. Fraga's supporters also pressed their team during Rodero's time-out, urging them to reconnect with the game.

Fraga then pushed forward, and with seven minutes left, and while Victòria was excluded, Fontdeglòria hit the crossbar. Vila-sana survived the scare. Two minutes later, Fraga launched a full offensive, but Vila-sana's defence held firm, blocking all attacks. Each clearance was celebrated like a goal, as was the blue card shown to Fraga's Sanjurjo, which gave Vila-sana a numerical advantage.

Vila-sana could not capitalise on the power play but held on until the final whistle. With ten seconds remaining, the crowd began chanting “Champions, Champions.” The 1-3 victory secured the OK Liga title, providing a magnificent farewell for Maria Porta, who is retiring this season.
