Vila-sana’s women’s roller hockey team are in Pla d’Urgell today, where they can seal a place in their first OK Liga final. They face Palau in the second leg of their semi-final at 13:00, after winning the opening match 5-1.
Coach Lluís Rodero said the team are not treating the tie as finished. He said they are going into the game at Palau’s rink “without thinking we have already won and can be in the final”, adding that it will be a different match because Palau have “their last chance” and will press hard.
Rodero said Vila-sana must match their first-leg level. He added that they need to increase pressure after losing possession, use the full width of the rink, and, above all, cut out mistakes.
The club are 50 minutes away from reaching their second final of the season. They already won the Copa de la Reina, beating Telecable 3-1, and they are also looking to put recent setbacks behind them after losing Champions League and Supercopa semi-finals to Fraga on penalties.
Rodero said the squad are approaching the match “without pressure” and are thinking only about Palau. If they do not finish the job today, they will have another chance next Tuesday at 20:30 in Pla d’Urgell.
In the other OK Liga semi-final, Fraga visit Telecable today at 19:15. Fraga lost the first game 1-0 and need a win to force a third match. For more Catalonia sports coverage, see our news page.
