Residents of Valls will have the chance to watch the Tomet children's procession dances and the human tower performances of the Sant Joan Festival from the town hall's balconies and windows. The council is holding a draw for 21 triple invitations for children to enjoy the 'balladetes' (little dances) of the small retinue as they arrive at Plaça del Blat on Wednesday, 25 June, at approximately 6:45pm.
Additionally, six double invitations will be drawn for the Completes human tower performance on 23 June at 11pm, and another six double invitations for the Sant Joan Human Tower Day on 24 June at 1pm. These invitations offer a unique perspective on two of the festival's most cherished traditions.
For the Tomet invitations, each triple pass is for two minors and one adult over 18, who must be the person submitting the application. Winners will observe the small retinue's dances and the performances by the Colles Vella and Joves Xiquets de Valls human tower groups, along with their musicians, from the town hall. The human tower performance invitations are double, allowing the winner to bring one companion, who can be either an adult or a minor.
How to Apply for Balcony Access
Interested individuals can apply online via the municipal website or in person at the Citizen Attention Office (OAC) from 2 June until 16 June. Only residents of Valls who are over 18 years old are eligible to participate in the draws, according to Valls officials.
The online application can be completed at https://participa.valls.cat. For in-person applications, the OAC at the Town Hall operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 7:30pm.
Draw Details and Notifications
The draws for all registered participants will take place on Tuesday, 17 June. This process will select both the winning numbers and a list of substitutes. These reserve lists will be used, in order, if any primary winners are unable to attend.
Winners will be announced by publishing the numbers provided during the application process on the www.valls.cat website, municipal social media channels, and local media. Winners will also receive notification by telephone. The Sant Joan Festival aims to be popular, traditional, and participatory, welcoming summer with a range of activities.
This year's festival also promotes participation for people with functional diversity and includes campaigns for a festival free of sexist and LGBT-phobic violence. The programme features local talent and major concerts at Carme with Suu, Doctor Prats, and Figa Flawas headlining. Valls will also debut a new T-shirt and cup featuring the festival poster, and the Casa de la Festa will reopen its doors in the lead-up to Sant Joan.
