UNED Girona will mark its 50th anniversary with a special commemorative event in Figueres on 20 May 2026. The celebration, starting at 6pm at the Cercle Sport Figuerenc, will bring together students, faculty, alumni, coordinators, and institutional representatives.
The event, themed “Celebrating half a century of trajectory at UNED Girona”, aims to recognise the university's work over the past five decades. UNED Girona, which started in 1974, has become a key institution for distance education in Girona province, providing many degrees, master's programmes, and doctorates.
Dignitaries and Programme
The celebration will include several authorities, such as the Rector of UNED, Ricardo Mairal, and the Mayor of Figueres, Marta Rovira. There will also be speeches from notable professionals who have been part of UNED Girona's history. Musical performances and a networking area are also planned.
The university is inviting all citizens to attend the celebration. Those wishing to participate must register beforehand on the UNED Girona website. The institution encourages wide participation to mark this important occasion for both the university and the city of Figueres.
