Fire stabilised after spreading from bus to woodland

The Catalan fire service, Bombers de la Generalitat, have stabilised a forest fire in Tordera (Barcelona) that began on Saturday at 10:24 a.m. when emergency services received an alert via the 112 hotline. The blaze initially consumed a bus before spreading to nearby vegetation close to Camí Ral del Monestir. Eleven ground units and two aircraft were deployed to contain the fire, according to official updates posted by the fire service on X. Crews focused on preventing flames from reaching nearby homes, several of which had already been evacuated by local police.

Emergency alert issued for two urbanisations

At 11:12 a.m., Protecció Civil de la Generalitat issued an Es-Alert message to mobile phones in the area, instructing residents in the Can Camps and Roca-Rossa urbanisations to remain indoors and stay confined. The order was issued as flames advanced uphill through dry forest under warm conditions, with Catalonia facing extreme fire risk levels across 34 municipalities.

By midday, fire crews reported the situation was stabilised. No fatalities or serious injuries were reported, though one minor incident in Tordera earlier that day, involving a fallen tree injuring a pedestrian, was unrelated to the fire response.
