Tortosa’s mayor has met trade union representatives to discuss a possible transfer of the Hospital de la Santa Creu de Jesús and Clínica Terres de l’Ebre to CatSalut, Catalonia’s public health system.
According to local officials, unions have welcomed the proposal in principle, but are now asking for more concrete information about how the change would work.
The talks focus on bringing the two Tortosa centres into the publicly managed network. The aim is to improve integration between services and strengthen coordination across healthcare provision in the area.
Union representatives want clarity on what the transfer would mean for staff, patient care and the day-to-day running of both centres. They have also asked for a clearer timeline for the process.
The Hospital de la Santa Creu de Jesús and Clínica Terres de l’Ebre both serve residents in Tortosa and the wider Terres de l’Ebre area. A transfer to CatSalut would mark a significant change in the local healthcare structure.
