Torredembarra's Lluís d'Icart Exhibition Hall, housed within Catalonia's only preserved Renaissance castle, offers artists a free space to display their work. The hall, which occupies the former kitchens and service areas of the Icart family's ancient fortress, also hosts various cultural activities, including projections and talks, according to Torredembarra officials.
The castle, now home to Torredembarra Town Council since 2000, stands at the highest point of the town. Its architecture belongs to the Camp de Tarragona school, the same style as Pere Blai, who designed the Palau de la Generalitat in Barcelona.
Exhibiting at Lluís d'Icart Hall
Artists wishing to exhibit at the Lluís d'Icart Hall must submit a general application. This can be done in person for individuals or through the electronic headquarters. The application needs to include an artistic curriculum and a collection of photographs of the artist's work.
After receiving the application, the Culture Department will contact the artist to arrange exhibition dates. Officials recommend submitting applications a year in advance to ensure inclusion in the following year's schedule.
While there is no financial cost to use the hall, artists are asked to donate one of their works to the Town Council. Artists are responsible for the installation and removal of their exhibitions. However, they can use all available materials within the hall, such as tables, pedestals, and supports.
