The Top Manta cooperative announced the second edition of the Barcelona Anti-Racist Run, scheduled for 13 June. During a presentation at the Oval Room of the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), the organisation confirmed this year's popular race will take place on Montjuïc mountain, following a successful first edition in the Sants neighbourhood.

This year's slogan is "There are not too many migrants, there are too many racists." Spokespeople for the street vendors' union stressed the "urgency" of mobilising against xenophobia and the inequalities faced by racialised people. Top Manta members also stated that deaths at borders are not "accidents" but consequences of a "racist system" that favours some while forcing others to risk their lives.

Race Details and Route

The 13 June event will start at 18:00 from Avinguda Ferrer i Guàrdia, next to the Magic Fountain. The route will proceed along Avinguda de l'Estadi, pass Palau Sant Jordi via Passeig Olímpic and Carrer dels Jocs Olímpics del 92, and finish at the starting point. Registration costs €20 and can be completed on the organisation's website.

As with the previous edition, all proceeds will go directly to Top Manta's social projects. The cooperative directly employs 15 people and has helped regularise the administrative status of up to 250 street vendors. Last year, nearly 6,000 people participated in the race in Sants, including both registered runners and those who ran without a bib.

Expanding Reach and New Initiatives

Between this year and 2027, Top Manta plans to organise additional marches in Terrassa, Sallent, Salt, Girona, Sabadell, Solsona, Vic, Manresa, and the Garrotxa region. This expansion shows a broader effort to raise awareness and support across Catalonia.

Top Manta also used the announcement to launch a new item in its 'Agua Running Club' collection. These breathable sports shirts, designed for the race, are made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. They are produced in the organisation's workshop by migrants in vulnerable situations, providing employment and training.
