Thousands of teachers marched through Barcelona on Tuesday, calling for greater investment in classrooms from the Catalan government and parliamentary groups. The protest was the latest day of strike action by educators in Catalonia.
Turnout estimates varied. The Guàrdia Urbana said 6,500 people took part, while the CGT union put the figure at 45,000.
Teachers are pressing for improved funding for public education across Catalonia, saying schools need more resources and staffing. They argue that better investment is needed to support pupils and keep standards high.
The demonstration also reflected wider concern about budget choices in the education sector. Union representatives have urged political parties to make public education a stronger priority in their legislative plans.
