€17,175 Grant Approved for Energy-Saving Streetlights
The Diputació de Tarragona has awarded a €17,175 subsidy to El Pla de Santa Maria for the replacement of 79 streetlights with LED technology, aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing CO₂ emissions. The total project cost is €21,175, with the remainder funded locally. This funding is part of the ImpulsDipta Pla, a provincial initiative supporting municipal investment in ecological transition. The plan streamlines administrative processes by up to 75% and consolidates previous grant schemes, including the former Pla d'Acció Municipal (PAM), into a single coordinated framework under the Diputació's cooperation model.
Industrial Zone Lights to Be Upgraded
The upgrade will target streetlights in the industrial estate along Carrer Oreneta, Picot, Mallerenga, Òliba, Rossinyol, and the access roundabout beneath the C37 motorway. According to technical documentation dated May 2026, the new LED fixtures will provide higher luminous efficiency, better uniformity, and include programmed dimming to 70% between 22:00 and 06:00. The project will not involve relocating lamp posts or structural changes to existing supports, as the current layout meets lighting-level requirements. The new units will be 45W LED luminaires with 6000lm output, 3000K colour temperature, and RAL-9006 grey finish.
Local Impact and Next Steps
Residents and businesses in the industrial zone can expect improved nighttime visibility and reduced light pollution. The upgrade supports broader regional goals for sustainable development and municipal energy savings. Work is expected to begin shortly, though no official start date has been announced. The Ajuntament de El Pla de Santa Maria will manage the tendering and implementation process.
