The Diputació de Tarragona, the provincial authority, and the area's 10 county councils have completed employment-plan work in 145 municipalities across Camp de Tarragona, Terres de l'Ebre and Baix Penedès.

For residents, the programme has included forest clearance, path cleaning and maintenance of public spaces in towns across the three areas. It was designed both to help unemployed people enter the labour market and to improve natural and urban environments, according to the Diputació.

50 people employed across 10 counties

The provincial authority allocated almost €1.5 million to the county employment plans. The funding enabled the recruitment of 50 people, with one supervisor and four labourers assigned to each county.

Participants also received additional training intended to strengthen their personal and professional skills.

Work included paths, streams and municipal facilities

The completed projects covered a range of maintenance and improvement tasks in the 145 municipalities:

  • forest undergrowth clearance and path cleaning;
  • improvements to sections of paths;
  • repair, upkeep and maintenance of streams; and
  • construction and maintenance work on public roads, municipal buildings and facilities.

The county plans form part of the Diputació's Employment Promotion Plan, which has operated since 2013 through employment projects distributed across the territory. Information on the scheme is available through the Diputació de Tarragona employment plans page.
