Tarragona City Council will debate the future of its 7.07% stake in Nàstic at the municipal plenary session on 19 June. The club is officially known as Club Gimnàstic de Tarragona SAD.

The move follows an announcement in May by Mayor Rubén Viñuales of the Socialist Party of Catalonia (PSC), who said the local government intends to reduce its participation in the club’s public limited sports company to zero. The proposal to bring the matter before the full council was put forward by the En Comú Podem group.

The council’s holding is a minority stake, but it remains a notable link between the city and one of Tarragona’s best-known sports institutions. The debate will set out the formal steps, and any timetable, for a possible sale of the shares.

If councillors back the plan, the session could start a formal divestment process and clarify how the city wants to handle its role in the club going forward. The outcome will be closely watched in Tarragona because it affects both municipal finances and the council’s relationship with Nàstic.
