Tarragona and large parts of Catalonia are under a yellow alert for intense rainfall, according to an updated warning from the Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (Meteocat) issued on Tuesday. The alert, which started at 2pm on Tuesday, is expected to last until 8pm on Wednesday, affecting central Catalonia and other areas.
The meteorological service forecasts precipitation that could exceed 20 litres per square metre in just 30 minutes. All comarcas in Tarragona are included in the yellow alert, with the exceptions of Tarragonès and Baix Penedès.

The maximum danger level for the interior regions is set at 4 out of 6, indicating the possibility of severe thunderstorms. Officials advise residents to take extra care when travelling, avoid areas prone to flooding, and stay updated through official channels as the weather develops.
