In Sant Cugat del Vallès, filming of The Last Druid, starring Russell Crowe and directed by William Eubank, has been suspended after breaches of biosecurity measures linked to swine fever, according to sources from the Catalan government's Department of Agriculture.
The production is taking place in Can Sant Joan, between Sant Cugat and Rubí in Vallès Occidental. Officials said the site did not maintain effective perimeter closures, which are required to help prevent the spread of African swine fever.
The Catalan government has told the production company that filming can only resume once the isolation of the site is guaranteed, in line with current protocols. The authorisation for filming on the land, owned by the Catalan Land Institute (Incasòl), depended on strict compliance with those rules.
African swine fever has affected wild boar populations in Barcelona province for months, with concern also focused on areas around Collserola Park and several municipalities in the Vallès region. That makes biosecurity a priority for any activity in affected zones.
