DO Empordà Tastings to Feature Local Varietals

The Regulatory Council of the Denominació d’Origen (DO) Empordà has announced four special wine tastings during the upcoming Empordà Wine Show in Figueres. The events will take place between Tuesday 1 and Saturday 3 October at unique venues across the city.

Each session will highlight a different aspect of the region’s wine heritage, led by expert sommeliers and wine educators. Tickets cost €15 per person and are limited; they can be purchased online at the official DO Empordà website.


Full Programme of Events

  • Tuesday 1 October, 6:00 PM: Empordà in White – A tasting focused on traditional white grape varieties, hosted by sommelier and wine podcaster Josep Miquel Guasch at the Museu del Joguet terrace (Carrer Sant Pere, 1).
  • Friday 2 October, 7:00 PM: Copa en Mà, Què en Saps de l’Empordà? – An interactive wine game with questions, prizes and stories by Romina Ribera Marigó, archaeologist and founder of Glops d’Història, at Cercle Sport Figuerenc (Carrer Monturiol, 3).
  • Saturday 3 October, 12:00 PM: Two Families, Three Colours, Six Wines – A deep dive into Garnatxa and Carinyena varieties with Clara Antúnez, sommelier at La Gastronòmica, on the balcony of Mercat de la Plaça Catalunya.
  • Saturday 3 October, 6:00 PM: Wines of Sea and Mountain – A showcase of iconic DO Empordà vineyards led by Laura Masramon, Empordà Sommelier, on the rooftop of Hotel Divino (Carrer Enginyers, 2).
"These tastings offer a rare opportunity to explore the diversity of DO Empordà wines in intimate, thoughtfully curated settings," said a spokesperson for the Regulatory Council.

Residents and visitors interested in Catalan wine culture are encouraged to book early due to limited capacity at each venue.
