Roses, Girona, has a new mayor, with Sílvia Ripoll Cayuela of Junts elected during a plenary session at the Town Hall on Saturday afternoon. She won an absolute majority, with nine votes from the 17 councillors present.
Her election follows a 2023 coalition agreement between PSC, Junts and Gent de Poble. Under that pact, Josep Maria Martínez Chinchilla of PSC served as mayor for the first three years of the term.
Ripoll will now lead the municipality until the next local elections. The change completes the leadership rotation set out in the agreement.
The move comes as councils across Catalonia continue to work through coalition arrangements agreed at the start of the current term. For more local coverage, see our news page.
