One faces criminal charges over 181 km/h speed
The Mossos d'Esquadra's Regional Traffic Unit issued fines to seven motorcyclists on Saturday 8 August after detecting them speeding on the N-141c road in Moià, within the Moianès comarca. One 49-year-old rider was formally accused of a criminal offence for driving at 181 km/h in a 90 km/h zone – double the legal limit – at kilometric point 24 of the N-141c. Police stopped the man and informed him he had committed a punishable road safety offence under Catalan traffic law.
Group of 12 motorcyclists broke speed limits
The rider was part of a group of 12 motorcyclists, all of whom were travelling above the speed limit. Six others in the group were caught going faster than 160 km/h and received administrative fines. The speed check took place during a joint enforcement campaign between the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Servei Català de Trànsit and local police forces.
Regional speed controls net 1,939 drivers
The operation ran from 3 to 9 August across central Catalan regions. Over 18,000 vehicles were monitored. A total of 1,939 drivers were administratively fined for speeding. The initiative focused on high-risk roads, including routes frequently used by cyclists such as the N-141c, which links Sant Fruitós de Bages and Moià.
