Santa Coloma de Farners hosted the 3rd Selva Communication Night on Thursday evening, with the discussion centred on how algorithms, digital platforms and artificial intelligence are shaping news reporting across Catalonia.

The event took place in the winter garden room at Hotel Mas Solà, according to Diari de Girona. It brought together more than 150 journalists, communication managers, content creators and institutional representatives.

The meeting has become a regular point of contact for communication professionals in the Girona area. This year’s debate focused on the challenges facing the sector, including how AI and algorithms affect both the creation and distribution of news.

Speakers and attendees also underlined the continuing role of human journalism in a media environment increasingly shaped by digital platforms. The discussion reflected wider concerns about how newsrooms adapt while keeping editorial judgement at the centre of reporting.
