Sant Cugat del Vallès is at the centre of a police investigation after Mossos d’Esquadra arrested two women, aged 45 and 21, and a 42-year-old man on 21 May over alleged jewellery robberies from homes.
The arrests came after officers stopped a car on Puig i Cadafalch street in Sant Cugat. Police say they found a large amount of jewellery inside the vehicle and believe it had just been stolen.
Investigators linked the items to a robbery reported earlier the same day, on 21 May, on dels Marges street in Sant Cugat. They also linked the suspects to another robbery on 2 April at a property on Sol street in the town.
In the April case, the homeowner returned to find the front door forced open, rooms ransacked and jewellery missing. The three people arrested were also charged in connection with that forced-entry robbery.
The Mossos d’Esquadra say the investigation is still open and that they do not rule out links to more robberies in the area. The three suspects appeared before the duty court in Rubí on 23 May.
The case forms part of a wider police operation that has led to seven arrests across municipalities in Barcelona and Tarragona over alleged home robberies, some involving forced entry. For more local crime coverage, see our news page.
