Motorists filling a 50-litre tank with 95-octane petrol in Sant Cugat on Wednesday 23 September will pay about €99 on average, according to price data reported by TOT Sant Cugat from the Ministry for Ecological Transition's Geoportal de Gasolineres fuel-price database.

The average price across the municipality's 10 filling stations is €1.98 per litre, €0.07 above the Catalan average of €1.91. Eight of the 10 stations are charging more than €2 per litre, meaning the choice of station can change the cost of a full tank by more than €10.

More than €10 separates highest and lowest prices

Repsol in La Floresta is the most expensive station listed, charging €2.049 per litre for 95-octane petrol and €2.075 for diesel. A 50-litre petrol fill there costs roughly €102.45.

Esclat Oil and Meroil, both on Via Augusta, are the cheapest, at €1.839 per litre for both fuels. That is a difference of €0.21 per litre, or €10.50 for 50 litres, compared with the La Floresta Repsol station.

Diesel reaches €2 a litre on average

Diesel averages €2 per litre in Sant Cugat, putting a 50-litre fill at about €100. The Catalan average is €1.92 per litre, €0.08 lower.

TOT Sant Cugat reports that petrol prices in Catalonia have risen by more than 30% over the past three months, following an increase that began at the end of June. A reduction in Spain's special hydrocarbons tax, worth €0.05 per litre in September, is due to end on Wednesday 30 September.
