Sant Cugat del Vallès saw a 4% increase in emergency calls to the 112 service during 2025, reaching a total of 20,266 operational calls. This figure is up from 19,484 calls recorded the previous year, according to data released by the Department of Interior in its annual service report.

The city now ranks as the third municipality in Vallès Occidental with the highest 112 activity, behind only Terrassa and Sabadell. Security concerns remained the primary reason for calls from Sant Cugat, accounting for 5,415 alerts, or 26.7% of the total. However, health assistance incidents, with 4,880 calls, and traffic-related issues, with 4,729 calls, were close behind, showing their growing importance among emergency types.

Other categories included general incidents (2,046 calls), civic matters (1,314), and fires (1,060 alerts). There were also calls concerning meteorology (320), water or gas leaks (291), accidents (122), and environmental issues (89).

Monthly Call Trends

June was the busiest month for 112 calls from Sant Cugat, with 2,238 operational calls. This coincided with the Sant Joan Eve celebrations, which typically generate a high volume of work across Catalonia. December also recorded a significant number of alerts, with 2,025 calls, influenced by New Year's festivities. February, in contrast, was the quietest month, with 1,275 calls.

Across the entire Vallès Occidental region, the 112 service handled 242,406 operational calls in 2025, a 10% rise from the previous year. Incidents related to civic matters and fires showed the most growth in the district.

Looking ahead, the continued rise in emergency calls highlights the ongoing demand for rapid response services in Sant Cugat and the wider Vallès Occidental area. Authorities will likely continue to monitor these trends to ensure adequate resource allocation for emergency services.
