Barcelona, Josep Sánchez Llibre, president of Foment del Treball, has said that in Catalonia, a salary of less than €2,000 makes it difficult to reach the end of the month. He made the comments in an interview with El Periódico after being re-elected for another term.
He said the pressure is felt most by young people and low-income families. Sánchez Llibre called for a joint effort to improve working and salary conditions across Catalonia.
The Foment del Treball president also addressed politics, saying that no political party had asked him to lead a no-confidence motion against the Spanish government led by Pedro Sánchez. He said his priority is to work for businesses and job creation, not political manoeuvres that could destabilise the country.
Sánchez Llibre also stressed the need for cooperation between public administrations and the private sector. He said innovation, digitalisation and sustainability are key to the growth and competitiveness of the Catalan economy.
He expressed confidence in the recovery capacity of Catalonia's business sector and called for unity and consensus to overcome current difficulties. For more Catalonia business coverage, see our news page.
