Salva Vendrell, president of Barcelona Restauració, will be the Junts per Catalunya candidate for Valldoreix in next year's municipal elections. He was presented this week as the aspirant for president of the Valldoreix Municipal Entity (EMD), the official title of the post.

Vendrell received support from figures including former Barcelona mayor Xavier Trias and Jordi Martí Galbis, president of Junts in Barcelona City Council. Junts per Valldoreix stated on Instagram that the municipality needs change, adding, "We are prepared to lead a new stage with strength, ambition and commitment."

With a long career in commerce and hospitality in Barcelona, Vendrell has been president of Barcelona Restauració since last October. Before this, he served as president of the Barcelona Comerç Foundation and the Barcelona Restaurant Guild.

Vendrell's Vision for Valldoreix

During his presentation, Vendrell said that the change in Valldoreix must be "profound," starting with the EMD itself. He explained, "We need a Valldoreix administration that works, that listens, that acts with rigour and that responds to the challenges we have on the table, out of a vocation for public service and because I firmly believe that we must be at the service of the residents."

He also expressed his belief in collaboration with Sant Cugat, stating, "to add and never to subtract. Hand in hand with Mayor Josep Maria Vallès." Barcelona Restauració was established last autumn by the Barcelona Comerç Foundation.

Future of Barcelona Restauració Presidency

Sources from Barcelona Restauració told Tot Barcelona that, "for now," the possibility of Vendrell leaving his presidency has not been considered. When Barcelona Restauració was founded, it was seen by some as a counterweight to the Barcelona Restaurant Guild, which has Roger Pallarols as its general director.

Vendrell denied this in October, saying, "We do not come to compete with anyone, nor to overlap with anyone. We complement, we add." The presentation of Barcelona Restauració was attended by representatives from various political parties, mainly from Barcelona City Council. These included Albert Batlle, Deputy Mayor for Security and Prevention; Martí Galbis; Daniel Sirera, president of the PP in the council; and ERC and Barcelona en Comú councillors Jordi Castellana, Carol Recio, and Pau Gonzàlez.

Also present were PP councillors Víctor Martí de Villafante and Sònia Devesa, former PP president in the City Council Alberto Fernández, and former president of the Parliament of Catalonia Laura Borràs. Vendrell's candidacy signals a focused effort by Junts to bring new leadership to Valldoreix, with a platform centred on administrative efficiency and community engagement.
