Autumn programme open for registration
Salou Council has launched Salou Actiu Tardor 2026, a wide-ranging cultural and educational programme running from October to December, aimed at encouraging community participation, learning and wellbeing among residents. The initiative, managed by the Council’s Cultural Services Department, includes workshops, guided walks, excursions, lectures and gastronomic events. Activities are designed for all age groups and interests, with a focus on local heritage, creativity and personal development.
Workshops and wellbeing activities
Participants can join multi-session workshops such as amateur theatre, bachata dancing, mosaic-making with trencadís, crochet, seated yoga combining gentle movement and meditation, and emotional management sessions. Creative options include making terrazzo-effect candles and sewing medieval costumes ahead of the Festa del Rei Jaume I. Gastronomy is a key theme, with workshops on traditional fishermen’s cuisine, rice dishes from various cultures, and Christmas cooking.
Language and heritage events
The programme promotes Catalan language use through spoken Catalan introduction sessions, informal conversation groups and the free online Voluntariat per la Llengua scheme. Residents are invited to rediscover Salou’s history through themed routes, including the Pirates and Corsairs Route and the Modernist Route. A guided walk focuses on the local crow population, while a lecture explores Barenys, the medieval settlement linked to present-day Salou. External excursions include a visit to the Barcelona Maritime Museum, a trip to the Ebro Delta and a cultural outing to Terrassa to see its nativity displays and heritage sites.
University lectures for older adults
A key feature is the Aules d’Extensió Universitària per a la Gent Gran, run in partnership with the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV). The course includes lectures on medieval art, the 1936 People’s Olympiad in Barcelona and artificial intelligence’s societal impact. Lectures take place on the first and third Fridays of each month at 5pm in the Costa Daurada room at the Civic Centre. The course fee is €36, and registration is open from 28 September to 9 October 2026, between 10am and 2pm, at the Cultural Services Office.
Registration details and access
Most Salou Actiu activities are free, though places are limited. Residents registered on the municipal roll (empadronats) have priority. Online registration for empadronats opens on 5 October 2026 from 10am to 11:59pm. In-person sign-ups are available on 6 and 7 October, from 10am to 2pm, at the Cultural Services Office. After these dates, remaining places will be open to non-residents. Each person may register for up to four activities, with places allocated on a first-come basis.
