Emergency services in Roses, Girona, are continuing the search for a young man missing after a jet ski outing. Firefighters are working along the coastline between L'Escala and L'Estartit, according to intervention chief Jordi Marquès.
Drone teams have also been deployed in the Medes Islands area as part of the operation. Marquès said sea currents change constantly, so authorities cannot rule out the possibility that the missing man was carried north, opposite to the direction the jet ski travelled.
In a separate development, the Civil Guard has sealed off the jet skis belonging to the company that organised the guided tour the young man was taking part in. This followed the discovery of significant damage to the victim's jet ski, which was found on Pals beach on Thursday, according to Diari de Girona.
The search remains active as investigators and emergency crews examine all possible scenarios, including the effect of strong currents in the area. For more local reporting, see our news coverage.
