Ripoll, in Catalonia, will face major road closures on 6 July 2026 when the third stage of the Tour de France passes through the town. The event is part of the Grand Départ, with Catalonia hosting the opening stages of the race, according to Ripoll town council officials.

The road closure will run from 12pm to 5pm to allow for the publicity caravan and the riders. The route will bring the race into Ripoll from the south via the C-17, then along Ronda de Castelladral, Carrer Progrés, Pont d’Olot, Carrer del Bisbe, Plaça de l’Ajuntament and Carretera de Ribes, before leaving on the N-260 towards Campdevànol.

During those five hours, no vehicles will be able to use those roads. The town council has asked residents to plan essential travel, including work journeys, medical appointments and errands outside the municipality, well in advance. Parking restrictions will also apply on some streets, with police signage to be put in place beforehand.

For emergencies on 6 July 2026, residents should call 112 before trying to use their vehicles. The council says this will help emergency services coordinate responses while the closures are in place.

The town council has thanked residents for their cooperation and apologised for any inconvenience. Officials also encouraged people to watch the race in person, noting that the Tour de France is broadcast in 190 countries and is expected to reach around 150 million television viewers in Europe alone.

More details on timings and planned activities will be shared closer to the date through Ripoll Town Council’s official social media channels. For more Catalonia-wide updates, see our news coverage.
