Late-night passengers on the R14 line between Lleida and les Borges Blanques will have to use replacement buses for four nights this week after Rodalies announced an overnight service change from Thursday 3 July to Sunday 6 July. The change applies between 10pm and 5.30am and affects journeys to and from Lleida-Pirineus, les Borges Blanques and intermediate stops including Juneda.

The disruption matters for commuters, shift workers and other passengers travelling late in the evening or early in the morning on the regional line linking Lleida with inland stations towards Tarragona. According to the Rodalies notice, the change is due to infrastructure works.

Overnight rail service replaced by road transport

Rodalies, the Catalan commuter and regional rail network run by the Generalitat and operated by Renfe, said an alternative road service will run between Lleida-Pirineus and les Borges Blanques during the affected hours. The notice was published on Rodalies Service News on 3 July.

  • Dates: nights of Thursday 3, Friday 4, Saturday 5 and into Sunday 6 July
  • Hours: from 10pm to 5.30am
  • Section affected: Lleida-Pirineus to les Borges Blanques
  • Line: R14 regional service
  • Intermediate station named in the notice: Juneda

The official R14 line description from Rodalies shows the route connects Lleida with stations towards Tarragona, and the regional services map places Juneda and les Borges Blanques on that corridor. Passengers travelling to smaller intermediate stops should check whether their train is replaced by road transport before setting out.

"Servei alternatiu entre Lleida-Pirineus i les Borges Blanques de 22.00 h a 5.30 h, del 3 al 6 de juliol," Rodalies said in its service alert.

What passengers should do before travelling

Passengers should check the latest service status on the official Rodalies incidents page or the scheduled disruptions page before leaving home, especially for the last trains of the night and the first departures early in the morning.

Rodalies also publishes line information for the R14 regional service, while general timetables are available through the official Rodalies timetable portal and Renfe's Rodalies timetable search. Travellers using stations such as Lleida-Pirineus, Juneda or les Borges Blanques should allow extra time because road replacement services can take longer than the normal train journey and may stop outside the station building.

The overnight replacement remains in place until 5.30am on Sunday 6 July, according to the Rodalies notice.
