Progress on local infrastructure highlighted
The mayor of Piera, Carme González Anjaumà, met with Catalan president Salvador Illa at the Palau de la Generalitat on 10 September to assess nearly three years of municipal governance and plan future initiatives. The talks focused on ongoing upgrades across the town’s 19 neighbourhoods.
Since the start of the current term, road resurfacing and water supply network renewals have been carried out in more than 12 of Piera’s districts. Works are already underway in Can Canals and Can Mas, including sewer collector installation and paving along Avinguda Europa, according to the Ajuntament de Piera.
Cultural and security projects in focus
The rehabilitation of Plaça de la Creu and the municipal takeover of Teatre Foment were highlighted as key moves to strengthen local cultural life. The theatre is now being developed as a central hub for community arts and events.
The mayor stressed the importance of institutional cooperation to keep advancing Piera’s development.
On public safety, González proposed that the planned Security Park, which will house the new Local Police station, also include dedicated facilities for the Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia’s regional police force. The aim is to improve coordination between both forces and enhance emergency response across the municipality.
