A person died from electrocution on the train tracks near Castellbisbal station in Barcelona early on Friday, 24 April 2026.

The incident, which occurred around 4am, has prompted an open police investigation by the Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's police force, to establish the circumstances of the death, according to police sources.

As a direct result of the incident, train services on the Rodalies R4 line were temporarily suspended between Martorell and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. Renfe reported that the interruption lasted from 6.27am until 6.54am, following a request from the Mossos d'Esquadra.

The police investigation continues as authorities work to understand how the person gained access to the tracks and the exact cause of the electrocution. Further details are expected as the enquiry progresses.
