Manresa was the focus on Tuesday as Santpedor-born Pep Guardiola opened a new Cruyff Court at La Salle school. The former Manchester City manager arrived at about 10.30am and was greeted by municipal authorities, including Mayor Marc Aloy, along with a large crowd of fans.

Many people asked for photographs as Guardiola made his way through the event. The reception reflected the attention his visit drew in the Bages capital.

The Cruyff Courts initiative is designed to provide safe, accessible sports spaces for children and young people, with the aim of encouraging physical activity and community use. The new court in Manresa adds another local venue for football and other sports.

The project follows the vision of Johan Cruyff and forms part of a wider network of courts in Catalonia and beyond. For more on local coverage, see our news tag.
