The Palamós wastewater treatment plant in Girona is in a race against time to resume full operations. The facility was overwhelmed by Storm Harry, leaving its installations submerged under more than two metres of water.
The Consorci d'Aigües Costa Brava Girona, the local water authority, aims to restore complete treatment capacity by the end of June. This deadline is critical because the plant serves several municipalities in the Baix Empordà region. It must be fully operational before the peak summer season, when the Costa Brava experiences its highest demand.
