Olot, in the Garrotxa region, will host the Catalan Sports Management Congress on 4 June at Sala Torín. The event, organised by the Catalan Association of Sports Management (ACGEP), is a key annual gathering for sports professionals and entities in Catalonia.

This congress is part of Olot's designation as European City of Sport 2026. It will bring together professionals, organisations, and institutional representatives to discuss the current state of the sector and its future challenges. The event aims to strengthen the role of local councils in promoting sports, provide practical tools for clubs and associations, and encourage public-private collaboration.

The congress also seeks to position Olot as a leading city for discussion and debate on sports management. It will feature round tables, presentations, and networking opportunities, with around 100 participants expected. Those interested can register via the ACGEP website.

Eight Hours of Debate and Reflection

The day will start at 9:30am with participant accreditation, followed by an institutional welcome from Olot's mayor, Agustí Arbós, and ACGEP representatives. At 10:15am, Xavier M. Triadó, Vice-Rector of the University of Barcelona, will deliver the opening address. He will offer a strategic view on promoting sports, focusing on current challenges such as changing habits, inequalities in access, the role of local areas, and the need for more sustainable models.

At 12pm, a round table will discuss collaboration between local administration and the private sector. Panellists will include Josep Maria Coma, President of Club Tenis Olot; Jordi Congost, First Deputy Mayor and Sports Councillor for Banyoles City Council; Bernat Juliol, a physical education teacher; and August Tarragó, President of the Association of Physical Activity and Fitness Companies of Catalonia. A second round table at 1pm will address challenges, generational change, and volunteering in sports associations. Participants will include Josep Sagués, President of CPA Olot; Alèxia Pérez, Manager of the College of Graduates in Physical Education (COPLEFC); David Vallvé, Head of Sports for La Seu d'Urgell City Council; and Santi Perramon, Sports Technician for Manresa City Council.

Practical Cases and Future Strategies

A lunch break will provide an opportunity for participants to share experiences and ideas with speakers and authorities. The congress will resume at 3:30pm with presentations of practical cases and experiences in promoting sports and sustainable management. This session will include short slots for club representatives to share their initiatives.

The event will conclude with a closing presentation by Pere Vilà, a lawyer from Garrotxa. He will discuss how to turn ideas into real actions within municipalities and sports organisations. Vilà will use real examples to explore management models, strategies, and tools for more effective and sustainable sports promotion. The Olot congress will end with an institutional closing ceremony involving representatives from the Department of Sports and the ACGEP.

Registrations for the congress opened on 8 May via acgep.cat. Further information on Olot, European City of Sport 2026, including programmed events and the agenda, is available on the Olot European City of Sport 2026 website and the Olot City Council website.
