Regional Collaboration on Health Research
A newly formed commission will coordinate and promote biomedical research initiatives in the Alt Pirineu and Aran region, aiming to strengthen collaboration between local institutions. The effort brings together the Department of Health, regional health authorities, and the University of Lleida (UdL) to align research with the specific needs of this mountainous area.

Support for Local Research Projects
The IRBLleida – Dr Pifarré Foundation is currently accepting applications until 8 October for its fourth call for Biomedical Research Projects tailored to Alt Pirineu and Aran. These grants target health professionals based primarily in the region, supporting studies that respond to local health challenges and demographic conditions.
Felip Benavent, manager of the Alt Pirineu and Aran Health Region (RS Alt Pirineu i Aran), highlighted ongoing efforts to expand research capacity, stating that

University Role in Regional Development
Carles Capdevila, deputy to the rector's delegate at UdL’s Pirineus campus, stressed that research is essential to the university mission, noting that
the Pyrenees need the university as a vital element of social and territorial cohesion
. He identified the next step as forming dedicated research groups focused on specific regional health objectives.
