A motorcyclist died on Sunday in a road accident on the C-43 in Gandesa, Tarragona, according to the Catalan Traffic Service (Servei Català de Trànsit).
The Mossos d'Esquadra, Catalonia's police force, received the alert at 11:45am. The motorcyclist was involved in an accident for reasons currently under investigation and lost their life at the scene.
This fatality brings the total number of people killed in road accidents on Catalan roads to 29 since the start of the year. Motorcyclists account for 13 of these deaths, making them the group with the highest accident rate, officials said. Among the other victims are three cyclists and three pedestrians.
Emergency Services Respond
Following the incident, three Mossos d'Esquadra patrols, one unit from the Generalitat Firefighters (Bombers de la Generalitat), and several units from the Medical Emergency System (Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques, SEM) were activated and attended the scene. Investigations into the exact causes of the accident are ongoing.
