Mollet del Vallès' Municipal Employment Services (EMFO) assisted 18,086 people in 2025, according to the annual report from the Mollet del Vallès City Council. The services also supported the creation of 46 new businesses and saw 107 students complete professional certificates.
The report highlights EMFO's role in local employment policies and social cohesion. It aims to influence the job market and reduce inequalities, particularly among women, individuals over 45, and residents in socio-economically vulnerable neighbourhoods, according to Encarna Ortiz Jurado, the Councillor for Employment.
Mollet del Vallès Mayor Mireia Dionisio Calé stated that the report's figures confirm the city council's commitment to ensuring dignified work for everyone. She added that the council continues to back training and entrepreneurship as tools for equity, improving residents' lives and promoting greater opportunities, cohesion, and social justice.
Entrepreneurship and Business Support
The Mollet Hub, which houses the entrepreneurship and business service, recorded 1,890 interactions with entrepreneurs in 2025, a 21.8% increase from the previous year. It also delivered 131 training sessions for entrepreneurs. Most new businesses established with support from these services in 2025 were in commerce (28.30%) and hospitality (17.40%).
Other initiatives included a speed dating event, the GiraFeina 45+ employment fair, three networking events, and workshops on energy efficiency in collaboration with the Energy Rehabilitation Office. EMFO also ran programmes to promote entrepreneurial values among young people and children, alongside 45 group welcome sessions.
Overall, the municipal employment services managed 411 job offers, and 687 people found employment with EMFO's assistance. The services also contacted 2,286 companies, a 4.3% increase from 2024. Additionally, 15 career guidance and entrepreneurship promotion talks were held in local schools and institutes, reaching over 400 students.
Training and Professional Development
The training service delivered five training programmes, involving 107 students and attracting 589 interested individuals. There were also 85 informative sessions about programmed training. Of those who participated in training, 63 completed a full Professional Certificate, and 23 completed a partial certificate. Fifty-six students undertook company internships, and 47 participants (43.93%) found jobs.
In 2025, ten projects were developed, leading to the hiring of 62 people. These projects involved tasks beneficial to Mollet del Vallès, such as concierge services, cleaning and maintenance operations, and civic agent roles. During their contracts, participants learned new skills or received training to boost their professional and competency-based learning, increasing their chances of employment after the programme.
Unemployment Trends
The typical person assisted by EMFO in 2025 was a woman, aged between 45 and 54, with mid-level education and Spanish nationality. Regarding employment status, 68.9% of those who registered with EMFO in 2025 were unemployed, while 31.1% sought to improve their current employment.
The data shows a positive trend in municipal unemployment, with a 39.40% reduction over the past five years since 2020. The number of unemployed individuals decreased from 3,777 to 2,289, confirming a favourable labour market trend. The unemployment rate for 2025, at 8.69%, is the second-best figure in the historical series, only slightly higher than the 8.45% recorded in 2006.
Moving forward, the Mollet del Vallès City Council plans to continue its focus on employment support, training, and entrepreneurship initiatives. These efforts aim to further reduce unemployment and enhance social equity across the municipality.
