Emergency services are searching for a female diver who went missing in Cap de Creus, Girona, after strong currents swept her away during a dive. The alarm was raised just before 11:50am on 10 June 2026, according to firefighters.
The diver was with a partner near the Encalladora islet, inside the natural reserve, when both were caught by the current. Her partner managed to return to their boat, but lost sight of her.
The search operation includes firefighters, the Guardia Civil and Maritime Rescue. Teams are working by land, sea and air, with seven fire brigade units involved, including a subaquatic team, a helicopter and a drone unit.
Authorities have not released any further information about the missing woman. The incident is the latest emergency response in Girona province involving coastal conditions and rescue teams.
