Manresa, in central Catalonia, saw an unusual water leak on Tuesday morning when a burst pipe sent a geyser-like spout into the air at the junction of Balmes and Guifré el Pilós streets. The incident happened shortly after 8.45am.

According to Aigües de Manresa, the rupture affected Guifré el Pilós street. It also caused a temporary interruption to the water supply for the Ateneu les Bases cultural centre and odd-numbered properties from 17 to 43 on Valentí Almirall street in Manresa.

Crews worked to fix the problem and, by just before 1pm, the situation had returned to normal. Water service was fully restored to the affected areas.

The cause of the pipe burst was not immediately specified by Aigües de Manresa. Incidents like this can disrupt homes, businesses and public spaces, even when repairs are completed quickly.
