Police in Manresa have arrested members of a criminal group linked to thefts on buses running between Barcelona and Terrassa. The operation was carried out by Mossos d'Esquadra as part of the wider Pla Kanpai campaign across Catalonia.
The arrests come after a year of work under Pla Kanpai, which has now widened its focus to Barcelona's bus network. Police say the aim is to target repeat offenders who use public transport to commit thefts and other crimes.
Investigations began in late November and, according to police figures, led to a sharp fall in reported crime. In the first quarter of 2026, criminal incidents dropped by 40.7% compared with the same period in 2025.
The monthly average also fell from 605 crimes to 359. Police said the figures show the plan is having an effect, while officers continue to monitor key transport hubs and routes.
Pla Kanpai is part of a broader effort to reduce petty crime on public transport and improve passenger safety. For more Catalonia-wide reporting, see our news coverage.
