Amposta has named Manel de Ramón Ferré, the former director of municipal station Amposta Ràdio, as the pregoner for its 2026 Festes Majors. The town council said he accepted the role on Thursday afternoon, after the offer was made by mayor Adam Tomàs and festivals councillor Anna Tomàs.
The opening speech will mark the start of Amposta’s main annual festival programme. According to the Ajuntament d’Amposta, the Festes Majors d’Amposta 2026 will run from Friday 7 August to Sunday 16 August 2026. Readers can follow the council’s official updates on the festival programme page.
De Ramón is a familiar voice in Amposta and across the Terres de l’Ebre. The town hall said he began at Amposta Ràdio in 1983 as a contributor to Telegrama Musical, when the station was still based in the town hall building, and later spent more than three decades at the municipal broadcaster before retiring in 2025.
The council described him as one of the best-known voices in local and territorial communication. It also said he has served on the jury for the Premi Amposta and has regularly presented public events, including the festival opening and the National Paper Dress Contest. In its announcement, de Ramón said: “He tingut l'oportunitat de treballar amb tots els alcaldes de la democràcia que ha tingut la ciutat.”
His work has also extended beyond Amposta Ràdio. The town council said he was president of the Federació de Ràdios Locals de Catalunya for 20 years, helped prepare the first white paper on local radio in Catalonia, and was the first EFE news agency correspondent in the Terres de l’Ebre. It added that he also worked for Cadena SER and collaborated with several local and county television outlets in the area.
